What beverages can my TaoGourd vessel hold?
TaoGourd lacquer gourds can safely hold liquors such as Baijiu, Whiskey, Brandy, Sake, and fruit wine, as well as daily drinks like water, tea, and coffee. For short-term consumption (finished within 1-4 hours), carbonated drinks (cola, soda), red wine, and beer are also acceptable.Note:Do not store strongly acidic beverages (e.g., concentrated lemon juice, vinegar, high-acid fruit juice) for a long time. The acidic components will slowly corrode the lacquer layer and affect the product's service life and appearance.
Is it easy to clean, and how to ensure hygiene?
Cleaning TaoGourd lacquer gourds is extremely convenient: the inner wall is crafted with refined cured lacquer, forming a smooth and dense surface that prevents drink residues from adhering. Simply rinse with 30-40°C warm water and shake for 10-20 seconds for daily cleaning; for mild tea or wine stains, gently wipe with a soft sponge brush.
For hygiene, refined cured lacquer has natural antibacterial properties—the lacquer film prevents bacteria from attaching and multiplying, and the wooden part of the gourd is fully sealed by the lacquer layer to avoid mold from water absorption. As long as you clean it promptly after use and air dry it upside down without leaving drink residues, bacterial growth can be completely avoided.
Is the lacquer layer safe for daily drinking?
The lacquer layer of TaoGourd lacquer gourds is absolutely safe. We use refined cured lacquer extracted from natural lacquer trees, which undergoes filtration, boiling, and high-temperature curing—unlike unprocessed raw lacquer. Cured lacquer removes allergenic impurities during production, and the fully solidified lacquer film has stable chemical properties, is non-toxic, and meets food contact standards. It will not release harmful substances or react with beverages during daily use, so you can rest assured to use it for drinking.
How durable is it?
TaoGourd lacquer gourds boast excellent durability and can be used for years or even passed down with proper care. The natural cured lacquer layer is hard and wear-resistant, and over time, the lacquer surface will form a unique patina due to air oxidation and hand contact—becoming more warm and mellow in color. The wood grain of the gourd itself will also become clearer, making each piece develop a one-of-a-kind texture and charm.
